Jul 13, 2012 GISWCT Receives 400 Book Donation from KBE Building

As part of their 50 Ways to Make Difference philanthropic initiative, KBE Building Corporation has collected and donated 400 books to Girls Inc. of Southwestern Connecticut, one of Greater Waterbury’s longest standing youth services organizations.  While presenting the non-profit with six boxes of books, representatives of KBE took the time to visit with many of the girls on the receiving end of this generous donation.  The girls were excited to hear about KBE’s current work on Carrington Elementary School and were eager to know about the man power and labor hours necessary to complete some of KBE’s impressive constructions.

KBE, a commercial construction firm serving the entire East Coast from regional offices in Farmington, CT and Columbia, MD, created 50 Ways to Make a Difference in 2009 as a celebration of the company’s 50th year in business.  It has now become an annual, yearlong community outreach program that supports communities where KBE employees work and live.

With Girls Inc. of SWCT staff already planning for increased enrollment in their after school programs come fall, KBE’s support couldn’t have come at a better time.  For more information about Girls Inc. of SWCT program offerings, contact the organization at 203-756-4639 or info@girlsincswct.org.
